8/11 The Roots of Emotional Illness that Influence Total Wholeness

December 23, 2013

One of the important topics we need to discuss is the influence of our Emotions on our Body.  I am sure you will agree with me that learning to handle our emotions in a healthy way has a positive benefit for our physical health.  So how can we do this?

1.  God created us to be complex creatures

We are eternal spirits, using a soul and living in a physical body.  All our parts are designed to work together, influencing each other and inter-related in function.

2.  Three groups of mental and emotional illnesses

8/10 My Body and I are Friends

December 17, 2013

We discussed in our last post, how important it is to have a healthy body image to live in Total Wholeness.  Take this short checklist and see what you think about your Body.  Then take your answers to the Lord and see what He says.  Change what you can to be more healthy but also learn to accept what your loving Creator has given.  Great peace comes from living in comfort and acceptance for the gift of your Body.

Using the scale below, insert a number, that is most characteristic of your heart belief about each statement:

8/9 In Search of the Body Perfect

December 5, 2013search

In this series on the Body and our personal Boardroom personality, we have seen how our thinking and behaviour will bring health or dys-function to our Body.  One of the biggest areas we see this is in our thinking about our own ‘Body Image’.

It’s all about Measuring sticks

We women have developed internal measuring sticks to judge ourselves, usually on a “1” to “10” scale.  So where do these images of perfection come from?   You’ll find them all around us: Magazines and movies, FOO, peers, culture in general and so on.  In fact, it isn’t really a new phenomenon. You can find such images in all the ancient cultures, from Diana to Venus.  Small and large idols, pictures and clay model show us the perfect female form.

8/8 Where Does Body Image Come From?

November 22, 2013information

The first step to a healthy body is to understand our attitudes to our Body. These ways of seeing our Body are often learned from early role models such as parents, peers, and for the current generation, in particular, media influence. We can see this pressure to be beautiful by the unprecedented numbers of people seeking cosmetic surgery to correct that which they dislike about their bodies.

Since our role models are usually imperfect our attitudes to our bodies can be based on false ideas, half-truths and sometimes even outright lies. As a result many of us grow up with distorted body images that can cause problems throughout life, and it’s not only women who suffer in this way.  Self-talk book?

Sunday Cuppa with Susanne – our new Series!

October 25, 2013home

In case you haven’t noticed, we started a new series a new series on Christian Foundations!  We’re talking about the journey we make as Jesus followers from being Slaves in the Kingdom of this world – to its thinking, ways of behaving and ways of protecting ourselves from the pains of this world.

Then we want to jump into the normal next stage – that of learning to be a servant in the Kingdom.  Many people seem to just stop here, especially if they have run into the legalism and ‘religiousness’ we can find around us.

8/6 Observing your Red and Yellow lines for Total Wholeness

October 15, 2013

We all live with stress; just different amounts at different times. By being aware of stress ‘messages’, we can learn to live more healthy lives.

How do you know when you are pushing your body beyond what is healthy?  Where are your ‘caution lines’? How do you know when you are pushing your body beyond what is healthy?  Where are your ‘caution lines’?

However, much dysfunction of the physical body would be avoided if we learned to listen to the “Red and Yellow Line” messages from our body.

8/5 We need to learn to Listen to our Body for Total Wholeness

October 13, 2013research

As we continue looking at the place of the Body in our personal total Wholeness, we can see every part of your personality – Heart, Mind, Will, Emotions, Spirit and Conscience – all have an influence on the Body.  Your whole Boardroom system affects the Body!  It’s like the Body is the Battleground for all the other parts to play out their pleasures and pain.

The Body is greatly influenced by whatever else is going on with the other members of the inner system.  All the emotional input affects the Body.  The stresses of the Conscience pull and twist at the very fabric of this complex creation.  The Heart with its wounds and desires push and pull the Body’s directions.  If the Will is crippled, the Body will show it.

8/3 What the Body was Designed to be for Total Wholeness

October 6, 2013

The Body is Creator God’s idea of an interface between the spirit and the physical universe.  He wants it (like all inner system – BR members) to be healthy and whole.  The Body is the foundation on which our mental and spiritual health depends.

We all begin with a body, created by God.  It has certain features that are unchangeable, such as our height, bone structure.  We can to learn to honour His choices for us. We all begin with a body, created by God, brought into the Earth by a woman.  It has certain features that are unchangeable, such as whether we are male or female.  We need to learn to honour His choices for us.

8/1 Our Physical Body and the impact on Total Wholeness

September 27, 2013

We just finished the important part of your personality called ‘The Heart’.  This is such an important concept to remember because our Heart is the centre and source of everything we do, say, believe and consider important!  If you didn’t have the space to see what we talked about, return to HERE!

We now return to this next important member of your inner system: The Body.  The Physical Body has some representative in the Boardroom, with its needs, wants and desires.  Some of these needs are God-given but other messages from the body are cravings, self-image or overload issues.

7/22 Forgiveness from the Heart for Total Wholeness

August 9, 2013
profile

We Christians know we should forgive

Forgiveness is one of those heart areas that we all need to address.  We, as Christians, know we ‘should’ forgive others.  However, the heart may still store pain and resentment and not want to let go of it.  We may have forgiven with our head – the decision to forgive – however, when we start working with our heart, we discover that our heart may not have forgiven.

1.  Hearing the heart’s emotions helps bring release
