4/6 Where does our Spirit come from so we can know Total Wholeness?

We are continuing with this third member of your personality, or what we are calling ‘The Boardroom’.  So far we have seen what the Bible has to say about your spirit and then went on to discuss what your spirit is NOT.

This discussion lead us into what allot of other people thought about the existence of your spirit.  There are many definitions and different views about the spirit and the spiritual dimension that again, it is important to see what bottom line foundation says – the Bible.

In this post, we want to look at 14 different purposes for the human spirit.   Now we continue with another question often asked….’So where does your spirit come from?’

The Bible says very little about where you were before you were born into the human body.

1.  The Origin of the Human Spirit

The origin of Adam, the first man’s spirit, was God’s breath of life. The human spirit was produced when God breathed the breath of life into Adam’s nostrils.

This fact is clearly proven by comparing the original Hebrew texts of Genesis 2:7 and Proverbs 20:27: the Hebrew word ‘neshamah’, translated “breath” in Genesis 2:7, is the same word translated “spirit” in Proverbs 20:27, which speaks of the spirit of man.

Thus, God’s breath in creation produced Adam’s spirit.

2.  Other Bible References to the human spirit

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.”

Psalms 139:14-16 “For You created my inner most being; You knit me together in my monther’s womb.  I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the Earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body.  All my days are ordained for me were written in Your book  beofe one of them came to be.”

Isaiah 49:5 “…and now the Lord says – He who formed me in the womb to be His servant ….”.

3.  At conception, the human spirit causes life to begin.

When the egg and the sperm come together, Creator God adds the spirit that becomes you.  This is a tiny fragment of Himself that will give you the experience of living a human existence.

4.  We all began with God!

It is my strong belief that every human being that has been conceived, is being conceived or will be conceived began with God.  Realising what a horrific experience this human life can be deeply effects all of us – except for Jesus of Nazareth who held true to His knowledge of Father God.

We all began what I call ‘our  life script’, whatever we told ourselves in order to survive.

—— > If you hear from your Creator, ask Him what was it that you told yourself in order to survive being born in the human form.  This directs all your motives and actives like an underground river to set the course of our life!

1.  As the embryo grows, other factors touch the spirit

We pick up ‘the old nature’ inherited from Adam and Eve from conception onward.  All the toxic inherited ‘junk’ from our parents and their ancestors await us, along with all the tremendous characteristics of being born in God’s image.

2.  Then the foetus is effected out the outside influences

Dr Thomas Verny conducted clinical studies on the experiences of the child in utero and these effects on personality.  He wrote these reports into his book called The Secret Life of the Unborn Child (Summit Books, New York, NY, 1981).

His documented the foetus’ reactions to outside stresses, loud noises and physical influences such as smoking and alcohol.  His research clearly shows that the womb is not the safe place that some people think.

3.  Emotional and spiritual realities invade the womb

Rejection is one of the biggest spiritual perceptions the foetus takes in.  Mother’s emotional state – her fears, anxieties and moods – influence the foetus as well.  Much of the psychological damage people face began before they were even born!

So what began as a ‘pure spirit from God’ is now touched and tainted with human life.  As we will see in our next post, your spirit can be in different states of consciousness and freedom.

In our previous series, we looked at some of these issues when we discussed ‘Inner Healing’.  Join us for our next post when we will see what are the conditions of the human spirit.  Maybe this can answer some of the questions you have about why life is so hard or so lacking in relationships or in peace,
