7/19 A Quick review for Total Wholeness and our Heart

As our Western culture has became more ‘mind orientated’, we have lost the essence of what the Old Testament and Jesus meant when talking about the Heart.   The more we work in the area of counselling and Mentoring, the more important we regard the Heart.  We need to learn the keys to guarding and keeping it clean before the Lord Jesus.

As a quick reminder: Our heart is the centre of our being, ‘the wellspring of life’.

The Conditions of the Heart:

1. The heart has been corrupted and became filled with evil because of Adam and Eve’s rebellion towards God.   We have all been born with this evil, corrupted nature, Jer. 17:9, Mark 7:21, Rom. 1:24.  Then, we have even chosen to add to this corruption.

2. We live ‘out of our heart’: Proverbs 4:23.  It is an ‘unconscious’, hidden area within us, unknown to us.   It is the source of our actions, thoughts, motives and intent, of our faith or unbelief, Romans 10:6, Hebrews 3:12, 2 Peter 2:14, Mat. 2:8, John 2:25.

3. God searches the heart and one day, we will be judged according to what He finds in our heart, Psalms 94:11, 15:26, Proverbs 6:18, Matthew 9:4, 15:19, 1 Chronicles 28:9, Jeremiah 17:10, 23:24, Romans 8:27

Remember the condition of the Heart without God?

A loving Father God aims at the heart for repentance and change.  Heart change causes thinking and behaviour change!

How do we find out what is ‘in our heart’?  To start with, there exists a huge gap between the heart and the head.   As we explore the Heart, we find it is like a treasure house, Matthew 6:21 – For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

4. We need to learn to come under the Lordship if Jesus.

We can know Him in three different ways just like His name – Lord, Jesus, Christ:

a. We can know Him as ‘the Christ’, the anointed One who came to bring us salvation and a restoration with Father God.  This part of His name has brought you the ‘Saving’ you needed.

b. We can know Him as ‘Jesus’, the Friend who walks and talks with us.

c. Then we can know Him as ‘Lord’.  To be a Lord in the Roman day meant that person had absolute authority and control over a life.  This is the hardest and most neglected area for many people’s spiritual life.  He is Lord of Lords and King of Kings and someday He will come back that way.  For now, He is ‘allowing us to allow Him to be Lord’ while we are here on this earth.

Only when we have all three of these areas in balance can we have continue spiritual growth!

 5. The heart was meant to be touched, healed and renewed by our loving Father God.

Some of Your healing journey has to do with your heart.

We must choose to expose our heart to God’s love to build trust in Him.  The heart is not particularly religious; in fact for most people, the heart doesn’t really trust the Lord.  It is our choice what we do!  Jesus knows everything there already and He is totally, totally on your side!  Heart work is a journey, a process with lots of beautiful events.

You are the only one who can take responsibility for this journey!  I pray that you continue on this path as you grow closer and closer to your Creator!
