In my times as a Counsellor and Mentor, learning to see the impact of Emotions on physical Health has been important. As a result I have found an amazing and very helpful book: ‘Deadly Emotions’ by Don Colbert. I have shared this book with many people. One person was so impressed with the book, she went to the Word Book store and brought me 6 copies to give away to others!
Well we have come to end of our sections on Emotions. Remember we are considering each part of our personality much like we would see a Boardroom. Some members are in harmony while others may be in violent disagreement. Some members might be hiding their true responses while other may be vocal and dominating.
The 7 parts of our personality are like this too. So far we have look at the Mind – the logical, rational decision making part of the Boardroom. The mind, as important as it is, much know that it is not the ‘Captain of your world’ with all the pressures that job carries. The mind is designed to be a tool, a very important one but only a tool. Other factors need to come into consideration in order for harmony for prevail in your Boardroom.
By now, I trust everyone would agree: Emotions must be Handled in a Healthy way.
Psychologists have long seen emotions as the driving force of the personality. Our emotions will impact our drives and instincts, our needs and wants. Emotion can upset every gland in the body, thus causing up to 85% of the treated illness seen by doctors.
In one of our first posts on this part of our personality, we defined emotions as “The state of mind that produces a feeling, which then shows itself in a physical change within the body.” (EDWJ, 5/98).

We are designed as a complex being. We have an eternal spirit, using a soul and living in a physical body. All these parts are designed to work together as a whole, influencing and inter-related in function.
2. There are two groupings of All mental and emotional illness
a) Genetic and Biological causes – inherited defects, chemical or hormonal imbalances and the results of physical abuses, such as drugs or alcohol.
b) Or environmental causes – childhood abuse and trauma, family of origin dysfunctions, faulty social skills, poor coping methods, poor role models, and so on.
We don’t always understand why You do what You do in our world. Sometimes, confusion and doubt come when we see things differently than You do. I would ask for my Emotions, the wisdom to hang onto You when pain and affilation happen. Help us to see Your hand of Love rather than interpreting everything as You being against me.
As you learn more healthy patterns of Emotional release, you will find your Emotions growing more toward peace and contentment. However, this doesn’t happen automatically as you grow and mature physically. Your Emotions are a different story.
In the past posts, we have talked about the benefits of tracing the wounded Emotions back to ‘the entry point’. It’s then that we can bring a freedom and a sense of wholeness to those wounded parts of our Heart, memory and our Emotions.
An example: When we moved into our present home, I organised the kitchen just the way I wanted it. Then there were times when my beloved husband would find a ‘better spot’ of something.

Since Jesus came to set the captives free! Part of that change is to allow Him to come and bring the healing we all need deep inside our heart. This is the process referred to as “Inner Healing”.
A. What do we mean by ‘Inner Healing’ on our goal for Wholeness?
No one would question that inner wholeness is a major thrust of the gospel. Jesus Christ came to bring us wholeness in spirit, soul and body. We talked about ‘Soteria’, the kingdom’s wholeness in body, soul and spirit, John 8:36, Isaiah 61:1-4. This inner wholeness is part of the process of Regeneration, Redemption, Sanctification, John 3:5.
How are you going with any feelings of being overwhelmed? “Now that I know about this, there is so much to do. Where do I start?”
Sometimes being a Jesus follower is like just discovering that you have inherited a weed-infested, over-grown garden. Yes, it is your responsibility to clean up the garden … but the first thing to realise is that you have a Master Gardener to help. He does not expect perfection, just for you to overcome, Revelation 2+3!
Listed below are feelings (emotions) that most people have in different situations. The purpose of this exercise is to help you identify your feelings and become more aware about how you do, or do not share them. It will help to print off this sheet to analyse each emotion.
For each feeling you are away of, place a red X. Put a Blue X to represent how often you disclose the feeling to your partner/friend or anyone.
Notice the variation between awareness and disclosure. For example, I may frequently be aware of feeling confident but rarely express this to my partner:

In the process of Mentoring people, I often come across a very interesting example when using the Boardroom concept is the answer!
Recently one person shared her story: Nicky came with with feelings of 'just being too tired to care anymore..." She had a great job so her mind was still actively involved in planning, sorting and getting her responsibilities on top of things in her office....but when she went home, she feel in a heap. She didn't even have the energy to add new light bulbs!
So what was going on? As we did a quick review of her 'Boardroom', she saw her will standing and shouting 'No, I'm tired and no more!" The other members were actually being shouted down and now were quietly sitting there watching the will struggle to be heard. ...except for her spirit who was trying to calm down the will and bring some reasoning into the situation. However, as she watched, her spirit was also so tired of the struggle with the will.
The Lord was at the head of the Table but was pretty much being ignored by the will as the struggle was between her spirit and a tired, discouraged will. "Why had they all had to endure what she had in the past? Why weren't things resolving as the Will believed God had wanted? Why...Why..." was the constant stream of words from the Will, all aimed at the spirit.
When the Will was heard, we asked if the Lord could come and talk to the Will. "OK" came a very tired, reluctant Will. Gently the Lord reminded the Will of times when He had been there, to bring good from what seemed like hard situations. The Will accepted this; even the great job she had now was because He had taught Nicky so much.
The Lord Jesus then asked the Will if it could just take the little steps He had planned in front of Nicky. That pleased the Will as it meant the Will wasn't in charge of having to push every part of the Boardroom to get moving; it meant the Will could rest in His promises more.
Next, the Lord turned to the spirit. He reinforced that the desired balance in her personality was for the spirit and the Holy Spirit to bring harmony for the whole system. He wanted her spirit to find what brought "...refreshing, revitalization and strength..." to her spirit.
That was her homework for her spirit, along with encouraging the Will to see more of the Lord's hand in her life. Jesus needed to rebuilt the Will's trust in the Lord's guidance and love for her.
Nicky left our session with a big smile on the outside and the inside because she has seen the dynamics of her tired Will and tired Spirit. It was the beginning of the next step to find more wholeness in her life. She determined to work with her Will to let it rest more in His "...slow step at a time...." guidance....and to find new hope for her spirit.
I hope this has given you a bit more an understanding of how 'the Boardroom' can work for you.
There is a time and place for everything in My kingdom. A time to seek Me and a time to rejoice in My love. I have planned a time for you to be born, to grow and to choose to know Me.
I have your future in My hands as well. There is nothing that can touch you without going through Me first. I plan, I teach and I grow you, My child. I have your valleys and your mountain tops in My hand.
I wish to draw you closer, to lead you with My peace. Find My peace and you will find My paths to wholeness. Let Me guide you in all things. Look for My hand in your world and you will see Me.
I know your Heart and I know your fears. I ask that you grow your trust in Me and let Me show you all that you need. You are spirit being as well as physical. I walk in both kingdoms, as well as the unseen world around you. I know the path ahead.
Time cannot take you from Me. In fact, My eternity awaits for you when you finish this earthly walk. A time that is far beyond your wildest imagination awaits you. Be faithful to what I have taught you, My child. Continue to grow in My love and truth.
Be careful of your doubts though as the enemy delights to try and pull from My path. There is rest and peace in My path. Look for this, My child. Even though you wish to see Me with the natural, look more to what I have already taught you. There are many treasures that I have stored in your mind and Heart!
I am here. Please never doubt this! I lead you so that you will grow in faith. Trust My ways and look for Me and you will find My paths. I have such great things ahead for you, know this! I will never leave you without a Guide to help you follow the path I have for you.
You have many questions and I do have many answers; some will have to wait till I see you face to face. Other questions … come to Me and ask and I will answer you. Listen for My voice as I do speak to you many times without you realising it. Look for My ways and you will find Me.

Susanne, I am spending each Wednesday morning going through the Board Room. Last week I found the exercises really helpful in putting into practice what I am starting to learn about the boardroom. The exercise that surprised me the most was the wall.
I pictured a solid brick wall- very tall. It is a neat wall and well built. However, it has lots of openings that I peek through. Too my surprise it is quite a narrow wall. I can step out from behind it whenever I like. It is not a secure barrier that I am hiding behind.
Jesus just wants me to come out and stop hiding. I can have full access to the Father. I can deal with the complete openness; I don’t need to hide and take small snatches of information through my peepholes. It is like walking out into beautiful sunshine. I am a little girl who can skip out and not observe from a distance.
Jesus said, ” Come out into my sunshine and listen to what I have to say to you.”
Very encouraging, Thanks
Great blog! I’ve enjoyed reading and getting to know the aspects of the boardroom in my life. I especially love the prayers for the conscience here, very helpful. Keep up the amazing work! Blessings!

Much of the drive of our personality is to find happiness, in whatever meaning that has for us. However, this can never be totally achieved unless we recognise that we have different ‘parts’ to our personality. Each part has a place in what happiness looks like.
It is ONLY when all the parts of our personality are in harmony and in balance can we even begin the journey toward wholeness and really living the best life we can.
In this Blog, we explore all 7 parts of our personality and who the Leader of our life is meant to be. We have developed the concept of these ‘parts’ sitting around a Boardroom table to discuss life and the decisions to be made. However, for most people, their Boardroom discussions are usually in conflict, disharmony and anything but organised. Then it only with the true Leader in charge that true health and healing can happen.
I have been a ‘Jesus Follower’ since I was 17 years old .....that’s a fair few years ago now! I am the wife of an amazing husband, Daniel. I have been working on my 'hobby' of website design for over three years. Made any money... well...not enough to pay for our hosting account at Hostgater....but that's partly what a hobby is all about.
I've enthusiastically jumped into blogs with 'a warehouse’ of great info we have collected over our 25 plus years of counseling and mentoring. So, please take advantage of the years of wisdom we have gathered.
We have dedicated this blog to build hope. We really believe that everyone out there can really, really resolve the inner chaos and that is His heart's desire too! He gives us true focus, sets our priorities and builds our faith in His love.
Your Thoughts? I’d especially love to hear from those of you who know something about this topic and from those who wish to learn how to find total wholeness in their life!
