7/22 Forgiveness from the Heart for Total Wholeness

Posted by on August 9, 2013notice at 3:32 amadvertise

We Christians know we should forgive

Forgiveness is one of those heart areas that we all need to address.  We, as Christians, know we ‘should’ forgive others.  However, the heart may still store pain and resentment and not want to let go of it.  We may have forgiven with our head – the decision to forgive – however, when we start working with our heart, we discover that our heart may not have forgiven.

1.  Hearing the heart’s emotions helps bring release

7/21 The 3 powerful Enemies of the Heart

Posted by on July 31, 2013 at 7:53 aminformation

As we continue our discussion on the Heart, we need to also see that there are three powerful voices that speak out against the Heart being healed.  What are they?

1.  The Mind tells the Heart to ‘…Just get on with it and shut up!”

As we have seen, our thinking patterns can influence whether the heart can express itself.  Often we have come from a background where the mind is in control over the heart.  When this happens, the heart never gets ‘heard’ and is crushed.  This ‘mind over heart’ can only injure the heart more.

7/20 Three common heart lies that Block Total Wholeness

Posted by on July 24, 2013 at 3:01 am

As we continue to allow the Lord to show us what is in our Heart that needs attention, we often come across Three deeply rooted lies that we believe.

Lie #1:  I need to change people’s behaviour to be happy

Silently ask Jesus this question:  “Lord Jesus, do I believe in my heart that I need to change others’ behaviour?”

a. The truth is that I can’t change anyone’s behaviour.  They are going to make their own choices (Deuteronomy30:15-19).

b. God does not want me to manipulate people into doing the ‘right’ thing.

7/19 A Quick review for Total Wholeness and our Heart

Posted by on July 18, 2013handbook at 12:30 ame-mail

As our Western culture has became more ‘mind orientated’, we have lost the essence of what the Old Testament and Jesus meant when talking about the Heart.   The more we work in the area of counselling and Mentoring, the more important we regard the Heart.  We need to learn the keys to guarding and keeping it clean before the Lord Jesus.

As a quick reminder: Our heart is the centre of our being, ‘the wellspring of life’.

7/18 How do we guard our Heart to Keep out the Rubbish for Total Wholeness?

Posted by on July 13, 2013feed at 11:36 ammarketing

Of course, we don’t just want the heart free from ‘rubbish’, we want to guard it, so it doesn’t accumulate more junk.

1.  How does one “guard or keep” the heart?

a. The word for “keeping” our hearts (Proverbs 4:23) has the same connotation as guarding a gate or fortress (Nah 2:1). “Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life.”

b. We are to carefully select what goes into our heart, because we have little control over what happens in there, once something evil is inside.

7/17 We keep our ‘Idols’ hidden in our Heart

Posted by on July 9, 2013advertise at 12:57 am

A.  A quick Review: what is the heart and what does it do?

Our heart is an unconscious area of the inner person.  I like to visualise the heart like a black box.  The inner motivations are hidden within, but thoughts and emotions are influenced from inside of it.

The soul and spirit realms influence the heart.  We need to have a balance of spirit, soul and heart.  We also need to treat any dysfunction in our personality by using the right ‘rule’ for the problem.  We may deal with our heart by acting it out, repressing it or getting it cleaned out.

7/16 Total Wholeness means dealing with biased Judgements

Three of the most important strongholds associated with the heart are Judgement, Unforgiveness and Trauma.  These areas affect the heart’s ability to relate to the living God and its important for us to understand them for further freedom.  Let me encourage you to continue the journey of true Christian growth and wholeness.

A. The spiritual Consequences of Judgement

Because Adam and Eve ate from the ‘Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil’, judgement is at the core of the Old Nature.  The issue of judgement is closely allied with unforgiveness.

B. There are Three types of Judgement taught in the Word:

7/15 How do we Surrender our Heart for Total Wholeness?

Posted by on June 24, 2013 at 5:27 pm

A. Remember we all begin with an ‘Unregenerate Heart’

According to Scripture, the ‘unregenerate’ heart – the heart without God – is the seat of the Self-system, or the Old Nature.  It is this fallen, self-centred, rebellious, corrupt heart that has lead us astray, Jeremiah 17:9.

7/14 Jesus isn’t after a ‘Sin-based Theology’ for Total Wholeness

Posted by on June 13, 2013e-mail at 8:45 pm

So far we have seen that our Heart is hidden and we do need God’s help to see what buried deep inside of us.  We’ve also looked at how the Heart can be more open and even change when we begin to see what’s there and to learn to work with the Heart for healing.

In this post, we would like to open the discussion on a very common view without many church cultures: the emphasis on what we did wrong – the sin – and trying harder to ‘not do it again!’  This is different than the Repentance Patterns we find in the teachings of Jesus.  Self-effort doesn’t make it with Him!

7/11 Heart Beliefs and God’s Truth

Posted by on May 3, 2013 at 3:16 am

You may remember this post when we talked about emotions.  Here is the same post but from a different viewpoint.  Again how many of these false views does your Heart believe?

The Emotions:

My Heart’s Beliefs and Attitudes:

God’s Truth Revealed to   Heart:

1. Depression, worthless, rotten,  low, rejected, melancholy, alone, untrusting, despondent.

“I am no good.  I am all alone and no one can help me.  There is no one to protect me.  I cannot trust anyone.  No one rescued or saved me.  Maybe God has forsaken me too.”

“My worth does not depend on my behaviour, my achievements, or my looks.  I am not the victim of my past life’s pains and mistakes.  God does love me.”
